So imagine my excitement when I found out about JUSU- Ipoh
made pure fruit smoothies!

I believe that a product usually has a lot of
similarities to their founders and I happen to know the men behind JUSU ever since I was a tween
(yes, you heard me right, men making smoothies). Many times have these boys been
my source of laughter and joy while I was growing up. I remember the countless
time we met for our yum cha sessions only to spend the entire night
brainstorming about ideas to make money. From farming chickens, to predicting
the next winning 4D number, we thought about it all. So I need to tell you,
these boys are legit !

Jusu is still a really fresh idea. Founders, Bobby and Praveent are very recent graduate who like many of us, are trying our best to make a name for themselves. The idea behind the smoothie brand was that Ipoh still did not have a smoothie brand of their own. Walk down the streets of Bangsar and Subang in Kuala Lumpur and you'll see countless local brands that stand proud to be made by locals and consumed by locals. These boys wanted Ipoh folks to have the same pride for a brand thus the birth of Jusu Smoothies.
The brand currently holds two flavors ; Mango and Strawberry but from what I have heard, their product line is about to expand really soon. They are packaged in a 250ml glass bottle giving out a very old school vibe. Oh and fun fact, if you return your empty bottles, you get a 50 cent rebate!. The best part about Jusu Smoothies, other than it being made in Ipoh is that it is 100% natural. No coloring or preservatives are added. You know how some brands tell you that their products are organic but in the end you find out that they were using organic chemicals, which in the end defaults the entire purpose of it being organic? Well, not Jusu. The Strawberry smoothie is made up of Strawberries, Bananas and Soy Milk while the Mango Smoothie is made out of Mangoes, Bananas and Orange juice. All natural and healthy ingredients! The end product is a very thick, puree like smoothies as seen in the picture below.
Seeing the size of the 250ml bottle, I expected the drink to be a good pairing with a breakfast platter however after drinking half the bottle, I realized that I was filled to the brim. Jusu is a great option for anyone who is on a diet and is looking for a wholesome alternative to a meal.
When drinking Jusu, you can fill the crunch of the banana seeds and chew on the fruit pieces in the smoothie. It's extremely refreshing and freshly made! Because no preservatives are added, Jusu juices are sold on the same day they are made. You can't say that about many bottled juices sold!.
For the time being, Jusu is still at its development stage. Because it is still new, getting your hands on a bottle may be a little tricky. However, their Facebook Page (Click) is constantly updated about where they will be setting up a store next. In the past, they have been loyal vendors at the bimonthly Bazaar behind Sekeping Kong Heng and Burps and Giggles.
That's Marc on the guitar. Say Hi to him and he'll play you a song :)
