Sometime last week I got invited for a Bloggers Luncheon hosted by Nando's.
The Luncheon was held at Aeon Station 18's Nando's outlet.
If you haven't checked it out yet, now would be a good time because just-do-it-because-i-said-so.
I brought Japhia (from japhiawhisperslouder) along.
Seriously, who wants to go for a bloggers luncheon alone? What if the other bloggers are super famous? or worse, weird creeps?!?!?!
(Oh Japhia, why you gotta be so pretty?)
After accepting the lunch invitation, a close friend pointed out to me that it wasn't the best idea since I don't exactly eat chicken.
Well no, not chicken chicken.. but chicken with bones ,fat and skin on it.
And no, I would not give you some soppy excuse to reason with my eating habits. I'll say it straight up here that I'm choosy and would rather have my chicken as nuggets or fillets.
So there I was on the day of the luncheon, geared up to try as much side dishes as I could and talk a whole lotta bull about chicken dishes that I didn't even try.
But no, I opened the menu to find that Nando's in fact serves more than your average chicken on the platter.
I was spoilt for choice with chicken Kebabs, Pitas , burgers and rice dishes.
In the end I chose the Angry Mango Burger
A heavenly grilled chicken topped with seasoned diced mango produce an exquisite experience for the taste buds
Unlike normal burgers that leave you felling bloated and heavy after eaten, the Mango Burger was light and easy to finish.Maybe it was because of the Hawaiian zesty feel to it, like how you can eat more slices of Hawaiian pizza to a peperoni?
Though it would have tasted better if there were more mangoes in it, the proportion of ingredients in the burger went well together (wah can be pro food blogger already)
Something else I didn't know about Nando's is that all their dishes come
in 4 levels of spicy-ness that you can choose from. Feeling a soar
throat coming, I choose the least spicy which was the lemon and herb
flavor.
If not satisfied with your dish's heat-level, you can opt for the sauces provided on each table.
My personal favorite is the garlic sauce but Japhia said that I will have smelly breathe if I kept eating it.
I had Spinach as my side dish, and well, I can't think about anything interesting to say about spinach.
But wait, let's put a pause to this post for a bit to address my picture above.
I don't eat like a slob okay? And neither is it some vomit or spat out spinach. The bowl came that way. (which is rather disgusting, and I shall not address further since I want to remain on the good side of Nando's)
Japhia got herself a half chicken which you can ask her about yourself.
For dessert, Japhia and I shared a chocolate mud pie and ice cream.
It was okay.I don't think I can properly critic it as the mud pie was left on the plate for some time before we ate it so when we did, it wasn't hot or moist anymore. But do try it out and tell me how it taste fresh off the oven!
Okay another fun fact about Nando's.
Did you know that Nando's carry Baskin Robbins ice cream??
Well, now you know!!
And Baskin Robbins ice cream is always awesome!
Japhia and I had strawberry flavor and it had real strawberries in it! Wanted to take a picture of it but the other bloggers were looking like we're some ulu kampung people.
That brought an end to our luncheon. And I went on diet for the next 7 days.
